I wanted to start a blog/site where I can upload all of my travel photos and some recommendations. I have a hardrive full of images from travels that I haven’t shared yet. So, I thought i would start with one of my favourite places in Italy, Florence!
We went as a belated birthday trip for myself in September. It was super hot and the streets were crowded with people. Many gelato’s were consumed and alot of pizza and pasta.
Where we stayed:
Just south of the Ponte Vecchio bridge in a very cute Airbnb! It felt very private and had a top floor balcony with a hammock. The best bit about this place was probably the dog Nino.
Gusta Pizza – just around the corner from our airbnb is the BEST pizza in Florence. I found this place about 4 years ago on my first trip to Florence and always go back.
Osteria Santo Spirito – this restaurant is located in a square of loads of amazing restaurants. This one is my favourite though! Anything on this menu is delicious.
Ditta Artigianale – Specialty coffee in Florence. We were lucky enough to have this cafe on our street and went here for breakfast and coffee everyday.
Things to do:
Piazzale Michelangelo – Head here for sunset (just like everyone else). It will be crowded but it’s worth it. There’s also a really nice garden on the way up, so stop and relax there and maybe bring a bottle of wine.
Eat Gelato – just eat all of the gelato you can find. They’re all good.
La Rinascente Firenze – This is a small rooftop bar on top of a shopping department. It’s cute and a place to relax and have a spritz with the view of the Duomo.
– Get lost… just wander around with no plan.
– Hop on a train to Cinque Terre for the day to cool off or to Pisa and check out the Leaning Tower.
